Through the fabric, yes — a three-pass lining lets no light through. Light around the edges is the usual problem, and that's solved at measurement: we add overlap in the middle, extra width at the sides and a track that returns to the wall. Ask for a pelmet or a top box for the darkest result.
No. The blackout is in the lining, so the face fabric can be ivory, sand or any colour you like. Very pale fabrics may show a faint glow at the seams in direct sun; we'll advise.
Curtains are darker, warmer-looking and better for sound and heat. Blinds are neater on small windows and cheaper. The best bedroom result is often a blackout roller blind inside the recess plus a sheer or light curtain over it.
Yes. A thermal blackout lining reflects a large share of solar heat before it enters the room. On a west-facing bedroom in summer the difference is easy to feel by mid-afternoon.
